AEW news: Blood & Guts match set for March 25 episode of Dynamite has been postponed

AEW Owner Tony Khan has postponed the Blood & Guts match

This past Wednesday, All Elite Wrestling showed WWE how to produce an empty arena show with a highly-rated episode of Dynamite.

Whilst NXT was simply a studio show, AEW went all out and had matches, interviews and even debuts, with former WWE star Brodie Lee being revealed as Dark Order's 'Exalted One'.

And the best was yet to come, as Matt Hardy made his maiden AEW appearance and was revealed as The Elite's fifth man for their Blood & Guts match with the Inner Circle.

The variation of the WarGames match was scheduled to take place next week on Dynamite, but because of the pandemic spreading across the world, AEW owner Tony Khan doesn't believe it's right to have that match happen right now.

Our goal every week with AEW Dynamite on TNT is to produce great shows for our fans, and I believe we do," Khan said in an official statement posted to All Elite Wrestling's Twitter account.

"We felt especially motivated to serve our audience this past Wednesday night given what the entire world is coping with, and hopefully we gave them a well-deserved escape during these trying times.

The Blood & Guts match was supposed to go down next week on Dynamite

"Everyone at AEW is very proud of what we delivered and humbled by the response and the kind words we’ve received from fans and partners throughout the world. Thank you!

"We plan to continue answering that calling with live weekly shows every Wednesday night on TNT, but the time and circumstances aren’t right for the card we had planned next week for Blood and Guts.

"That show will happen when the time is right, but what you can count on instead this coming Wednesday night is a great live episode of AEW Dynamite featuring Chris Jericho confronting Matt Hardy, face-to-face, one-on-one, for the first time ever and a tremendous night of wrestling action.

Tony Khan though has put the match on hold

"In the meantime, until AEW Dynamite this Wednesday night, please follow us via social media and please be safe and smart so we can get back to seeing you all on the road as soon as possible."

This seems like a good decision from Khan, and the match itself will fare much better once shows can involve the fans once again.

AEW have also proven themselves to be very good at building stories slowly, so that should help the Blood & Guts match still feel exciting when it comes about!
