The world is going through a tough time right now due to the sweeping effect of COVID-19, but there's at least one thing that is continuing. That is wrestling, with both WWE and All Elite Wrestling continue to bring entertainment to our screens in this time of need. But for those wrestlers who dedicate their life to the craft but aren't signed to a major promotion, times are getting tough.Shows are being cancelled across the world, and thankfully some wrestlers in times of need are helping out, such as AEW World Champion Jon Moxley donating 1,000 euros to Irish promotion Over The Top Wrestling.Whilst some are being very sympathetic, others are not being so gracious, and unfortunately a big name star in the form of Braun Strowman has let himself down in the eyes of many with comments made on social media. After AEW's Evil Uno suggested fans who still have disposable income should try and support independent wrestlers if they can, WWE star Strowman basically said that indie stars should quit and find another job.“Here we go with more of the somebody pay for my bills stuff. If you can’t afford to pay your bills maybe you should change professions," Strowman posted on Instagram, per Forbes.

"That’s why I quit strongman. I loved it, but I couldn’t afford to live so instead of making a GoFundMe or a Patreon wanting someone else to take care of me I went out and worked harder than I ever have in my life to get to where I am.

"What happened to being accountable for your own actions????!!!”

Understandably, Strowman's comments have created considerable backlash considering the wrestlers affected were hardly expecting a pandemic to happen, but instead of an apology, he has been doubling-down on Twitter.

Unlike his fellow WWE star Mustafa Ali who is promoting behind closed doors indie events, the Monster Among Men has been less than sympathetic, and he's stated that he will create a video on Instagram soon to explain his comments.

But there may be no way back for him following this - WWE may give him opportunities, but fans are likely to remember his views for quite a while, and they will be less forgiving.
