With more and more people being asked to self-isolate around the world due to the coronavirus outbreak, Canelo Alvarez can show people exactly how it should be done.DAZN USA have shared footage on Twitter of Canelo ‘self-isolating’ by slipping and ducking punches in his fight against Daniel Jacobs back in 2019.The footage shows Canelo using his incredible defensive skills to make his opponent miss, by using swift head and waist movement to avoid punches. And with the coronavirus outbreak only getting worse in most countries around the world, maybe we could learn a thing or two from Canelo’s technique. The Mexican fighter won the bout, which took place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on May 4 last year. The fight was close, with Canelo controlling most of the opening rounds and doing just enough in the latter ones to be given the victory on the judge’s scorecards. His win meant he added Jacobs’ IBF middleweight title to his WBA and WBC belts.Following the victory, Canelo moved up to the light heavyweight division to challenge Sergey Kovalev in September 2019 for the Russian’s WBO world title. The Mexican won the bout via an eleventh round KO to become a four-weight world champion, joining the likes of Erik Morales, Tommy Hearns and Miguel Cotto in doing so.

Canelo’s next fight has not been confirmed. He is expected to face either Britain’s Billy Joe Saunders, who is the current WBO super middleweight champion, or Kazakhstan’s Gennady Golovkin for a trilogy fight.

Canelo drew with Golovkin in the pair’s first meeting in the ring back in September 2017.

He then beat the Kazakh via majority decision in the rematch a year later, so a third fight between the two boxing legends could be huge.

However, with the coronavirus situation continuing to deteriorate it is unclear when professional boxing fights will resume.

Earlier this month, Bob Arum’s Top Rank were forced to cancel two events as a result of the outbreak, yet it is unknown when these events will be able to take place.

Professional boxing may have to be postponed until 2021, which is hopefully when we will see Canelo’s slick defensive skills once again.
