English football is currently in the midst of unprecedented times.The coronavirus pandemic impacting the entire globe has seen all football in the country postponed for the foreseeable future.With the Covid-19 outbreak in the UK only set to worsen in the coming months - regardless of a lockdown being imposed - there is a very real chance of the 2019/20 season being declared null and void.But in the grand scheme of things, the completion of the campaign is unimportant. What really matters is the protection of the elderly and vulnerable in such troubling times.Those within the footballing sphere are doing all they can to help and Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho is even working with charity AgeUK to help deliver essential goods to the elderly.Journalist Michael Bridge tweeted out the news this evening, with Mourinho pictured helping the charity in Enfield.
Bridge wrote on Twitter: "My place of birth, Enfield had an extra helper for @age_uk today. Delivering essential goods to the elderly. Nice one, Jose. #THFC."
What an absolute legend!
Despite the horrific nature of the situation we are currently in, it is refreshing to see and appreciate the human side of those involved in football.
Mourinho is a man who is as divisive as they come in the footballing world, but off of it he - like most players, managers and staff - is a thoroughly decent bloke.
It was also revealed today that Norwich's Todd Cantwell and other senior players are ringing some of the club's season ticket holders who are over 80 to keep them company.
The Premier League community is certainly playing its part in times of hardship - kudos!
