Hands up if you’re missing football. Yep, thought so.

The coronavirus pandemic means life is effectively on hold for the time being - and football has now been out of our lives for almost two weeks.

When it returns, though, imagine how sweet it’ll feel. We cannot wait.

In the meantime, we thought it’d be interesting to merge the top five European leagues into one table - purely for the fun of it.

We’ve put the 20 teams who have amassed the most points this season into one imaginary table, just to see what it would look like. No prizes for guessing which team is top of the pile.

First of all, let’s look at the five teams who narrowly missed out on a place in the table…

25. Atletico Madrid (+10 Goal difference) Points: 45

Atletico are going great guns in the Champions League but their form in La Liga has been less impressive this season.

24. Manchester United (+14 Goal difference) Points: 45

Man Utd’s league form improved in recent weeks but they miss out on a place in the top 20 by two points.

23. AS Roma (+16 Goal difference) Points: 45

AS Roma currently sit fifth in Serie A, but their tally of 45 points wasn’t enough to earn them a place in the table.

22. Getafe (+12 Goal difference) Points: 46

Getafe have been impressive this season but they narrowly miss out on the top 20.

21. Real Sociedad (+12 Goal difference) Points: 46

Real Sociedad’s 46-point tally means they also miss the cut.

And now for the top 20...

20. Sevilla (+10 Goal difference) Points: 47

In 20th place of this fantasy table we have Sevilla, who currently sit third in La Liga.

19. Bayer Leverkusen (+14 Goal difference) Points: 47

Bayer Leverkusen sit fifth in the Bundesliga, as things stand, but their tally of 47 points mean they also sneak into Europe’s top 20.

18. Chelsea (+12 Goal difference) Points: 48

Frank Lampard’s are fourth in the Premier League table, having won 14 and drawn six of their 29 fixtures.

17. Atalanta (+36 Goal difference) Points: 48

Atalanta have scored 70 league goals this season - more than any other team in Italy.

16. Lille (+8 Goal difference) Points: 49

Lille are currently on a three-game winning streak in Ligue 1.

15. Borussia Mönchengladbach (+19 Goal difference) Points: 49

Borussia Mönchengladbach have won 15 and drawn four of their 25 Bundesliga fixtures this season.

14. Rennes (+14 Goal difference) Points: 50

Rennes may have lost eight games this season but they’ve still managed to amass 50 points.

13. RB Leipzig (+36 Goal difference) Points: 50

RB Leipzig’s impressive goal difference is largely thanks to Timo Werner, who has scored 21 goals in 25 games this term.

12. Borussia Dortmund (+35 Goal difference) Points: 51

One of the most exciting teams in Europe this season, Dortmund’s 51 points isn’t enough to earn them a place in the top half.

11. Leicester City (+30 Goal difference) Points: 53

For a brief period we thought Leicester could seriously challenge for the Premier League title - but then Liverpool pulled away.

10. Inter Milan (+25 Goal difference) Points: 54

Inter Milan lost their two most-recent fixtures but they would still be 10th in this fantasy European league.

9. Bayern Munich (+47 Goal difference) Points: 55

Bayern have looked superb in the Champions League this season but, surprisingly, they have drawn four and lost four of their 25 league fixtures this season.

8. Marseille (+12 Goal difference) Points: 56

Marseille would be above the likes of Bayern Munich and Inter in this European table, although it’s important to note they have played a few more fixtures.

7. Real Madrid (+30 Goal difference) Points: 56

Real Madrid are second in La Liga but six other clubs in Europe have won more points than the Spanish heavyweights this season.

6. Manchester City (+37 Goal difference) Points: 57

Pep Guardiola’s side haven’t been at their scintillating best this season. Fifty-seven points from 28 games is an underwhelming return by Man City’s lofty standards.

5. Barcelona (+32 Goal difference) Points: 58

Barcelona are Spain’s top team but their 58-point tally pales in comparison to some of the teams above them in this table.

4. Lazio (+37 Goal difference) Points: 62

In fourth place, it’s Lazio, who have only lost two league games all season.

3. Juventus (+26 Goal difference) Points: 63

Cristiano Ronaldo’s Juventus seal third place after winning 20 and drawing three of their 26 games.

2. Paris Saint-Germain (+51 Goal difference) Points: 68

PSG have scored 75 goals in Ligue 1 this season, winning 22 and drawing two of their 27 fixtures.

1. Liverpool | (+45 Goal difference) Points: 82

Liverpool have earned 14 more points than any team in Europe’s top five leagues this season - that is some going. From 29 games, Jurgen Klopp’s side have won 27, drawn one and lost one. Remarkable. The best team in Europe right now by a distance.
