If you were to give Manchester United a school report-style grade for their season so far, it would probably be somewhere between C to D.

It hasn’t been great, but there have been some good moments - especially in recent months.

The coronavirus pandemic suspended the season at the worst possible time for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side. They were just beginning to play some good football while picking up results in the process.

United’s upturn in form coincided with the arrival of Bruno Fernandes, who immediately gave everybody at Old Trafford a huge lift.

The Portuguese midfielder has only played nine games for the Red Devils so far - but has he already done enough to be considered a Player of the Year contender?

The guys at FullTimeDEVILS have ranked all of United’s players this season into five different categories: ‘POTY Contender’, ‘Played Well’, ‘Ordinary’, ‘Under Par’ and ’Sh*t!’.

You can watch the video here…

And here’s how they’ve ranked the players…

Sh*t

Phil Jones

Phil Jones is only Man Utd player who has been “sh*t” this season, apparently. Not too sure about that.

Under Par

David de Gea

Victor Lindelof

Axel Tuanzebe

Paul Pogba

Jesse Lingard

Andreas Pereira

Angel Gomes

Tahith Chong

Jesse Lingard and Andreas Pereira can both consider themselves very lucky to have made the ‘Under Par’ category, rather than the ’Sh*t’ one.

David de Gea hasn’t been at his world-class best this season, but putting him in the same category as Lingard and Pereira feels a bit harsh to us.

Victor Lindelof can also feel a little hard done by.

Ordinary

Lee Grant

Joel Pereira

Eric Bailly

Diogo Dalot

Luke Shaw

Juan Mata

Hard to disagree with too many of the selections here.

Luke Shaw has looked impressive in games this season. Perhaps he should be in the ‘Played Well’ category. The rest look pretty spot on.

Played Well

Sergio Romero

Harry Maguire

Aaron Wan-Bissaka

Brandon Williams

Daniel James

Nemanja Matic

Anthony Martial

Mason Greenwood

Again, it’s difficult to argue with most of these selections.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka possibly could have made the ‘POTY Contender’ category, while Daniel James has been rather inconsistent since his rip-roaring start to life at Old Trafford. The Welshman could easily have found himself in the ‘Ordinary’ category.

POTY Contender

Fred

Bruno Fernandes

Scott McTominay

Marcus Rashford

Four excellent shouts, for our money.

Fred has been superb in recent months, Fernandes has made an extraordinary impact as we already mentioned, Scott McTominay keeps getting better and better, while Marcus Rashford was enjoying the best season of his career so far until he suffered that unfortunate back injury in January.
