Highly rated Real Sociedad midfielder Antoine Griezmann is a reported summer transfer target for Liverpool reports the Daily Mail.

Several newspaper reports in the media today have suggested that Reds manager Kenny Dalglish has also set his sights on bringing Griezmann’s Sociedad teammate Xabi Prieto to Anfield at the end of the season.

But it is believed that Griezmann remains the number one priority having come close to joining Liverpool in the recent January transfer window.

The 20-year-old left-sided winger who can also operate as a supporting striker is known for his technical skill, quick acceleration and dribbling – and as a result could provide Liverpool with the much needed additional supply to their newly-acquired strike partnership of Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez.

The French youth international’s talents were overlooked in the early stages of his career, partly due to the fact he had forged his career in Spain.

But the promising La Liga starlet who has now made 57 appearances for Sociedad, scoring ten goals and adding five assists in the process is now emerging as a potential star of the future.

Liverpool Director of Football Strategy Damien Comolli has recognised the promise shown by Griezmann and as such is now looking to orchestrate a summer deal.

Although under contract until 2015, Griezmann has a €30million release clause written into his current deal, so Liverpool know the figure needed to activate negotiations should they fail to reach a mutual agreement with the La Liga club directly.

Griezmann remains high on the Anfield wanted list that has had a whole host of names linked with speculative moves to Liverpool when the transfer window reopens in June.

However, it remains to be seen how much money manager Dalglish is prepared to spend on Griezmann, and whether or not he will turn his attention elsewhere as he looks to continue the rebuilding project currently underway at Anfield.
