Mike Tyson vs Tyson Fury: 84% of fans think Iron Mike would win in a Boxing match

Mike Tyson was an absolute animal in the ring.

The American boxer made his professional debut in 1985 and dismantled everything in his path in the heavyweight division for the next five years.

He was given the nickname ‘The Baddest Man on the Planet’ for his brutality and controversial behaviour both inside and outside the ring.

Unfortunately, he wasn’t the same during the latter part of his career and retired in 2005 having lost six times.

Nevertheless there’s no doubting that, in his prime, he was one of the best fighters that ever lived.

But how would he Tyson at his very best get on against the current WBC heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury?

It certainly would be an interesting match up.

Tyson stands at 5 foot 10 and needed only one punch to finish off an opponent.

Fury, on the other hand, is almost a foot taller, has a lot longer reach and is known for his evasive ability. He hasn’t tasted defeat in his professional career yet.

Picking a winner is a hard task.

We asked who would win in a fight between the two on Facebook and it turns out that Tyson was an overwhelming winner.

Out of the 110k people who voted, 84% think that a prime Tyson would win while only 16% back Fury.

Fans shared their opinion in the comments.

Mike Smith have his backing to Tyson, writing: “I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again and again 21 year old Mike in his prime would dismantle any past or present heavyweight, powerful clinical wrecking machine”.

Paul Brown said: “Iron mike in he’s prime would win. To quick, to aggressive, to much power. Win by KO!”

But, despite Tyson winning by a landslide on the poll, Fury got plenty of love in the comments.

Sean Conroy wrote: “As much as I love Mike Tyson, Fury’s height and reach advantage is clearly too much! Let’s be real here”.

And Aaron Worth went with the Englishman, writing: “I couldn’t see Tyson getting close enough to Fury to land a serious punch and even if he did it’s not like Fury’s chin is made of glass, he can take a hit and also miss a hit. Has to be Fury for me.”

Despite the vast majority going with Tyson, it certainly would be a fascinating fight and we find it almost impossible to call a winner.
