The ending to their storied rivalry may have been prevented last year, but we will indeed get a finale in 2020.When Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano teamed up for the Dusty Rhodes Classic in 2015, no-one would've thought that five years down the line, they'd be involved in NXT's most compelling rivalry. After less than two years of teaming with each other, the fan-fare was there for a major split within the pairing, but Ciampa's knee surgery meant that fans had to wait nearly a whole year for their first one-on-one match.2018 saw an Unsanctioned match, a Street Fight and a Last Man Standing bout, with Ciampa taking two wins to Johnny Wrestling's one, but before the year was out, the two had re-united as a heel tag team. That didn't last long though, and the scene was set for TakeOver - Ciampa v Gargano for the NXT Championship - but owing to Ciampa's neck injury and subsequent repair, it never happened, and Gargano instead feuded with Adam Cole.Since the Blackheart of NXT returned in October 2019 after recovering from surgery, he linked up with Gargano yet again, proving that it really was a dysfunctional relationship. But after striking Ciampa with the NXT Title belt at TakeOver: Portland last month, Gargano turned to the dark side again. And the match that was supposed to happen last year during WrestleMania weekend is finally going to take place, but with reversed roles as Ciampa is now the good guy. With TakeOver: Tampa not taking place as originally scheduled, matches from that event have been moved to NXT shows, starting from next Wednesday. It was always expected that Ciampa and Gargano would be fighting each other, perhaps in a Loser Leaves NXT match, and last night Triple H laid down the ground rules.

It will be their 'final match' against each other, and it'll take place inside an empty building - and you'd expect the loser will be heading to either Raw or SmackDown all things considered.

The segment actually closed with a teaser for the upcoming debut of Killer Kross, but that's a story for another time.

It's going to be brutal and it's also going to be fun, and in 13 days time, the longest-running rivalry in WWE will finally have the final chapter written in its story.
