UFC fighter Joanna Jedrzejczyk has revealed that she has made an amazing recovery after suffering a terrible hematoma during her narrow points defeat to Zhang Weili last month.

The two female strawweight’s fought at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas in what was afterwards described as one of the greatest women’s fights in UFC history.

The Polish superstar was however left unrecognisable following the bout with her forehead swelling to over twice its usual size, which subsequently led to her being taken to hospital.

Jedrzejczyk was thankfully discharged the following day after reportedly suffering no long-term injuries and has since posted via Instagram this week showing she is just about looking like her normal self again.

The fighter also uploaded a series of Instagram stories, which demonstrated her working out at home alone in self-isolation amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The former strawweight world champion has drawn widespread adulation following her battle with Zhang Weili, however, one of her fellow American Top Team fighter teammates, controversial welterweight Colby Covington was less than complimentary.

When asked about the bout, Covington said:

“She’s washed up and nobody cares about her. She used to be the Boogiewoman, now she’s the boobie woman. Look at her face. She got her face rearranged and I called it.”

Jedrzejczyk subsequently replied saying:

“I feel sorry to him that he needs to jump on me. We are such hard workers, very talented people. We are real warriors.

“He is trying to take advantage. I don’t want to comment, he is such a liar.”

It certainly seems that while the pair won’t be settling their differences in the cage, we certainly have not heard the last of this verbal sparring bout.

Elsewhere in the world of UFC, despite other sports around the world calling off major events, owner Dana White remains as determined as ever to make Khabib vs Ferguson happen at UFC 249 with Dubai rumoured to be a likely venue for this dream encounter to take place.
