Last night, communities celebrated the NHS by cheering and clapping their bravery at 8 pm from front doors, gardens and windows.

In light of this strain of Coronavirus, otherwise known as COVID-19, the NHS have been working tirelessly around the clock to ensure that safety is a main priority during this global pandemic.

Many sporting stars have signed up to be volunteers for the NHS, as well as some athletes putting their overalls on and getting stuck in to encourage the safety of others.

Carly Telford, GK for Chelsea and England, shared the news of volunteering for the NHS via a tweet from Chelsea Women.

“It’s nice knowing we’re doing something good for the community – I think that is so important right now.”

Alongside Telford, teammate Bethany England was also in support of the health care providers. With England’s mother and sister both being front-line workers for the NHS, she shared on twitter that the claps outside “really did make me emotional.”

“I’m proud of the difference they’re making and the lives they’re trying to help save.”

Having been standing by my front door at 8 pm clapping, the tribute to NHS staff was truly emotional. With it being such a dark time for the world, it is beautiful to see communities come together to thank all of those who are helping.

Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis all joined in for the tribute in a video shared by Kensington Palace.

To the doctors, nurses, carers, GPs, pharmacists, volunteers and other NHS staff: here at Give Me Sport Women, we thank you for all of the hard work during this heart-breaking time.
