With no Euro 2020 or Copa America to look forward to, the world's top nations aren't going to be battling it out for supremacy this summer.

Both tournaments are usually a chance for players to put themselves in the shop windows, but they won't be getting that opportunity in the coming months.

Regardless, the biggest stars will still have an astronomical price tag attached to them when the transfer window finally opens.

Thanks to Transfermarkt, we've pinpointed the most expensive player from all of FIFA's top 50 countries.

That means all the way from Scotland to Belgium, from Bosnia and Herzegovina to Brazil.

50. Scotland - Andy Robertson (£72m)

Who else? Robertson has risen to prominence as one of the world's best left-backs, a Champions League winner and to all intents and purposes a Premier League winner too.

49. Bosnia and Herzegovina - Miralem Pjanic (£58.5m)

The Juventus midfielder has helped the Bianconeri to three successive titles since he joined.

48. Jamaica - Leon Bailey (£33.3m)

That may be of interest to Chelsea, who have been closely monitoring the Bayer Leverkusen winger.

47. Ghana - Thomas (£45m)

The Atletico Madrid midfielder has spent his whole career in Spain, but that could change with him being targeted by Arsenal.

46. Costa Rica - Keylor Navas (£9m)

The ever-maligned Keylor Navas. The PSG 'keeper is surely worth so little because he's now 33.

45. Czech Republic - Patrik Schick (£22.5m)

The forward is on loan at RB Leipzig from Roma and is already eyeing another move this summer, with the Premier League a likely destination.

44. Norway - Erling Haaland (£72m)

The 19-year-old's release clause means even though he only joined Borussia Dortmund in January, other clubs are already circling. The striker has scored nine goals in his first eight Bundesliga appearances.

43. Morocco - Achraf Hakimi (£54m)

Having done enough to impress at Dortmund, the versatile Hakimi is soon expected to return to parent club Real Madrid and sign a new deal.

42. Australia - Aaron Mooy (£10.8m)

The midfielder was too good to go down with Huddersfield and remains a solid option for Brighton.

41. Paraguay - Miguel Almiron (£18m)

Almiron had to wait until December to score his first Newcastle goal, but it was worth the incredible scenes.

40. South Korea - Heung-min Son (£72m)

It can't be overstated just how much Son is revered in South Korea. And to think, his time at Tottenham almost came to an end after just one season. He's since become indispensable.

39. Iceland - Gylfi Sigurdsson (£25.2m)

Sigurdsson can be so hit and miss but on his day, his free-kicks alone make him worthy of a bigger price tag. He badly needs to re-find his form at Everton.

38. Russia - Mario Fernandes (£27m)

The CSKA Moscow right-back has caught the eye in the Europa League this season, for scouts not initiated in the Russian Premier League.

37. Romania - Ionut Radu (£10.8m)

One of the few goalkeepers to make the list. The 22-year-old has spent his whole career so far being shipped out on loan by Inter.

36. Northern Ireland - Jonny Evans (£13.5m)

Evans' longevity in the Premier League speaks for itself. Ironically, it's only in his later years that he's really got the respect he deserves.

35. Algeria - Riyad Mahrez (£54m)

Mahrez may not start every game at City - who can be surprised in that incredible front line - but his tally has still been decent this season, with seven goals and eight assists. That £54m isn't for his penalties, that's for sure.

34. Republic of Ireland - Matt Doherty (£18m)

Doherty's rise to the Premier League has been quite incredible. Wolves signed him after spotting him at Dublin-based Bohemians even before he'd played a single game for their senior team.

33. Iran - Sardar Azmoun (£16.2m)

You might remember him from the 2018 World Cup. Azmoun has a very respectable goal tally at international level too, scoring 32 in 50.

32. Slovakia - Milan Skriniar (£54m)

Don't let Martin Skrtel give Slovakian centre-backs a bad name. Skriniar has also shown his versatility as he's become a big part of Inter Milan's side.

31. Nigeria - Wilfred Ndidi (£40.5m)

Leicester miss him badly when he's not there. Recent reports have even linked him with Barcelona, but he's pivotal to the Foxes if they're to stay amongst the elite for any length of time.

30. Serbia - Sergej Milinkovic-Savic (£72m)

There was a time when the midfielder was constantly being linked with Manchester United. Those rumours have never quite gone away, but he won't come cheap if he does leave Serie A.

29. Turkey - Caglar Söyüncü (£36m)

It's testament to the Turk's abilities that Leicester haven't really missed Harry Maguire.

28. Japan - Shoya Nakajima (£18m)

Nakajima doesn't get as many goals as he should, but he's never been the most prolific of number 10s.

27. Tunisia - Wahbi Khazri (£8.1m)

A name that probably haunts Manchester United fans to this day. During a spell at Sunderland, Khazri was the architect of United's downfall as he scored and assisted in a 2-1 win. Since then, he's spent the rest of his career in France.

26. Austria - David Alaba (£58.5m)

Six-time Austrian Footballer of the Year and eight-time Bundesliga champion. Alaba can play just about anywhere too.

25. Venezuela - Josef Martínez (£15.75m)

Martínez won't be going anywhere with a torn ACL. That injury would have been potentially devastating for Atlanta, however, with his record of 90 goals in 103 games.

24. Ukraine - Oleksandr Zinchenko (£27m)

The Manchester City defender isn't just a Kevin De Bruyne lookalike these days.

23. Wales - Gareth Bale (£36m)

Bale once again stayed put in January despite rumours of a Deadline Day return to Spurs. The Welshman's wages are going to remain an obstacle for most clubs, even if he's available at a cut-price fee.

22. USA - Christian Pulisic (£54m)

Pulisic took his time to hit the ground running at Chelsea. Regardless, we fully expected to see him top the USA's list given the impact he made at Dortmund.

21. Peru - Luis Abram (£7.65m)

Abram might not be particularly well in these shores, as he currently plays in Argentina.

20. Senegal - Sadio Mane (£135m)

Mane is also Liverpool's joint MVP (Mo Salah also being worth £135m). Their fans might have their own private opinions about that after this season, mind...

19. Poland - Robert Lewandowski (£63m)

Even at 31, Lewandowski is the Bundesliga's top scorer this season. He's won Polish Footballer of the Year in eight of the last nine seasons.

18. Chile - Alexis Sanchez (£18m)

We'd like to gloss over this one. Neither Manchester United nor Inter Milan are likely to want to keep him next season but the Chilean, inexplicably, is still worth more than the likes of Arturo Vidal.

17. Sweden - Victor Lindelof - (£31.5m)

Lindelof, on the other hand, has settled in well at United. The Swede has established himself alongside Maguire in a much-needed stable partnership.

16. Denmark - Christian Eriksen (£76.5m)

Eriksen hasn't set the world alight since joining Inter Milan. The Nerazzurri nabbed him from Tottenham with just six months left on his contract.

15. Germany - Leroy Sane (£90m)

Were it not for his injury problems, Sane's impact could have been greater at the Etihad. The winger has persistently been linked with a return to Germany.

14. Netherlands - Virgil van Dijk (£90m)

Van Dijk's price tag is almost irrelevant. He's priceless. The fact Liverpool signed him for £75m suggests his value should have rocketed much higher in the last 18 months.

13. Italy - Marco Verratti (£67.5m)

Verratti's ability to make the midfield tick has earned him a value of nearly £70m, making him more valuable even than Serie A top scorer Ciro Immobile.

12. Switzerland - Denis Zakaria (£40.5m)

One of the Bundesliga's finest prodigies. We so often rave about England's young talents who have excelled in Germany but Zakaria's passing ability has set him apart at Borussia Mönchengladbach.

11. Mexico - Raúl Jiménez (£45m)

The Wolves forward's exploits haven't gone unnoticed, with Zinedine Zidane reportedly now eyeing him up as a strike partner for Karim Benzema.

10. Colombia - Davinson Sanchez (£54m)

It's been an inconsistent season for the Spurs centre-back. Jose Mourinho still sees him as an eventual long-term successor to Jan Vertonghen, who will be out of contract in the summer. Sanchez was signed from Ajax as Tottenham's then-record signing and his value has gone up around £10m since then.

9. Argentina - Lionel Messi (£126m)

He's not bad, is he? It's believed, of course, that the six-time Ballon d'Or winner could leave Barcelona for free this summer due to a clause in his contract. That seems unlikely now.

8. Spain - Saul Niguez (£81m)

Saul's massive release clause has always put clubs off. That could change now that he's recently changed representatives.

7. Portugal - Bernardo Silva (£90m)

Cristiano Ronaldo might have been the obvious answer, but he's only worth £67.5m by virtue of his age. He's still rather upset about it mind, as he's apparently blocked Transfermarkt.

6. Croatia - Marcelo Brozovic (£54m)

The Inter Milan midfielder now surpasses compatriots Luka Modric and Ivan Rakitic. Not bad going.

5. Uruguay - José Giménez (£63m)

Rumour has it that Liverpool were so impressed by the central defender when Atletico knocked them out of the Champions League that they are one of the clubs interested if he moves on this summer.

4. England - Raheem Sterling (£144m)

Real Madrid have been keeping their eye on the England forward for some time and could pounce if Manchester City's Champions League ban is upheld.

3. Brazil - Neymar (£144m)

For all his faults, Neymar remains the Selecao's star attraction and is on course to break Pele's record for Brazil goals.

2. France - Kylian Mbappe (£180m)

Mbappe confirmed his status as France's poster boy at the 2018 World Cup. He's also the most valuable 21-year-old on the planet, naturally.

1. Belgium - Kevin De Bruyne (£135m)

That might seem inevitable, but with the likes of Eden Hazard and Romelu Lukaku as compatriots, De Bruyne does very well to be ranked as Belgium's MVP. Then again, what do you expect of arguably the Premier League's greatest midfielder?

All in all though, it's Mbappe who stands out as the most valuable player in the world.
