Everton striker Oumar Niasse has reportedly been labelled a 'disgrace' by police after disobeying the UK's coronavirus lockdown laws.
According to The Sun, the forward was allegedly stopped by the authorities while driving his white Mercedes around Manchester.
Niasse was not wearing a seatbelt while driving and worst of all, he had a friend and two female companions in the car - a direct violation of the UK's lockdown laws.
Unnecessary travel and gathering in close proximity with people you do not live with have been banned by Prime Minister Boris Johnson to try and stop the spread of the new Covid-19 virus.
Niasse's negligence came just two days after Johnson's speech to the nation, but he only received a warning from the officers.
However, they did have some strong words for the Everton man during their interaction.
The Sun report that the officers told Niasse: "You are bang out of order, a disgrace. As a Premier League footballer you’ve just put everybody here at risk. What are you doing? It’s totally embarrassing."
Well said. A witness to the incident in Withington, Manchester added: “It is shocking that Niasse is carrying on regardless.
“We’re not supposed to gather with more than two people in public yet everyone in that car seems to think they can do what they want.
“The officers were suspicious and clearly not happy at what they came across. They shone a torch into Niasse’s face. He was ordered to spell his name.
“There was even apparently a call put in to Everton to let them know what one of their players was up to. The girls left in an Uber. Niasse was given strong words of advice and sent on his way.”
The Senegalese striker will surely be subject to an internal investigation at Everton and will likely be punished for his action during unprecedented times for the UK.
