If Dana White is to get his way, then UFC 249 is still going ahead, despite the coronavirus global pandemic.
The event scheduled for April 18 at this current time still has the green light to go ahead and White is promising “the baddest card that’s ever been done in the history of the sport.”
As if the card wasn’t already stacked enough, with the hugely awaited lightweight title fight between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson being the night's main event.
UFC 249 could also feature a massive co-main event, with a huge heavyweight clash between Francis Ngannou and Jairzinho Rozenstruik.
Tyron Woodley could also now appear on the card after his fight scheduled for UFC London against Leon Edwards was cancelled. If he is to appear on the card, it is likely he will be paired with rival Colby Covington, who has relentlessly called Woodley out on social media after the cancellation of his fight.
UFC Portland’s main event could also be added to the event, which would see the addition of Alistair Overeem vs Walt Harris to the card, as well as Carla Esparza vs Michelle Waterson.
The card will also keep some of the original scheduled fights for the night like, Jeremy Stephens vs Calvin Kattar, Islam Makhachev vs Alexander Hernandez and Uriah Hall vs Jacare.
UFC 249 was originally meant to be hosted in Brooklyn, New York. However, the New York governor banned large gatherings, although, White has claimed to have figured out a location and venue logistics for the event.
Whilst speaking on UFC 249 earlier this week, White said: “We're building a card where people can still manoeuvre and still get in.”
