Jose Mourinho has had the pleasure of working with some of the best players in world football.

Frank Lampard at Chelsea. Cristiano Ronaldo at Real Madrid. Samuel Eto’o at Inter Milan. It’s an enviable cast of players.

And the Portuguese coach has picked the best of the bench by naming his all-star best XI, featuring only players he’s managed.

Mourinho’s managerial journey has seen him manage Benfica, Uniao de Leiria, Porto, Chelsea, Inter Milan, Real Madrid, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.

He failed to mention any players from his time spent in charge at Old Trafford while the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Wesley Sneijder and Marcelo also miss out.

The full XI, as per the Manchester Evening News, includes eight former Chelsea players, including that memorable spine from his first stint at Stamford Bridge of Petr Cech, John Terry, Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba.

Ronaldo and Mesut Ozil, who worked with Mourinho at Real Madrid, are featured, while full-back Javier Zanetti is the lone Inter Milan player to get in.

Mourinho’s dream XI:

Petr Cech; Javier Zanetti, John Terry, Ricardo Carvalho, William Gallas; Claude Makelele, Frank Lampard, Mesut Ozil, Eden Hazard; Didier Drogba, Cristiano Ronaldo.

That’s some team.

It was during that first stint at Chelsea were Mourinho really established himself as one of the brightest minds in the game and the relationship he forged with the leaders of that team were special.

“In my career, he has been the best manager by a long way,” former Blues captain Terry said about the coach in the documentary Mourinho, per the Independent.

“If he had have said ‘We could have gone to the moon’, I think he would have very player – and I am being serious – going or at least trying.”

Some feel as though the 57-year-old has fallen behind his peers but those who have worked with him, especially during the early years, will speak of a man who knew how to make his players feel 10 feet tall.
