The FA remains determined to complete the Women's Super League season this summer with the view for the league to be finished by August 2020.

During a conference call with representatives from the WSL clubs, scrapping the 2019/20 season was one of the options discussed. However, the decision wasn't taken to call it off, and consultation will be ongoing while the teams are still in isolation.

The WSL season is due to resume on 30 April - if and when it is safe. The WSL on Thursday announced that the tiers three to seven of the women's game are to end their seasons immediately, with all results expunged. The two top divisions will not be drawn to the same conclusion, as those two divisions are managed and run by the FA.

WSL clubs have between six and nine matches remaining this season, depending on games in hand, this means games need to start by mid-July for the season to end by August.

The FA has communicated that it will continue to monitor all Government advice with the situation under constant review, with the priority being the health and well-being of all during this time.
