The first series of 'Sunderland 'Til I Die' was a major success.Released on 14 December, 2018, the series featured eight episodes and covered Sunderland's tumultuous 2017/18 campaign.It gave a behind-the-scenes look on ongoings around the club, which culminated in them being relegated from the Championship.If you enjoyed the series then you are in for a real treat as season two of Sunderland 'Til I Die has dropped today on Netflix.And, this series may have even more drama than the first.The second series will comprise of six episodes and follows the club's journey in League One during the 2018/19 campaign.Sunderland were expected to bounce back from disappointment in the season prior and go straight back up to England's second tier.It all started so well as they beat fellow promotion-chasers Charlton Athletic on the opening day.But it wasn't all plain sailing.They managed to make the final of the EFL Trophy, where they met Portsmouth at Wembley.
In what was a dramatic final, Aidan McGeady scored his second in the 119th minute to take the game to penalties.But they would suffer heartbreak as they were beaten 5-4 on spot-kicks.Sunderland faltered in the final months of the season and missed out on the automatic promotion spots.They did manage to quality for the playoffs, though, and avenged their defeat against Portsmouth to make it a second Wembley appearance.In the final against Charlton, The Black Cats got off to a great start after Naby Sarr's bizarre own-goal with just minutes played.But Sunderland could not hold on.In the 94th minute, Patrick Bauer found the net for the London side to break Sunderland's hearts at Wembley yet again.It marked the end of what was another dramatic season and, thankfully, it has all been captured on the Sunderland 'Til I Die documentary.View the trailer below:
