Mousa Dembele has to be the one of the most underrated players in Premier League history. After arriving at Tottenham Hotspur as a player renowned for operating loosely as a centre-forward ay Fulham, the Belgian turned into one of the best central midfielders around in north London.Dembele's main asset was his ability to break forward at will and dribble past opposing players with effortless ease. Once he got into his stride, he was simply impossible to stop. It's absolutely no coincidence that Spurs' best ever period in the history of the Premier League came when Dembele was at the peak of his powers.A video compilation of Dembele at his very best highlights just what he brought to Mauricio Pochettino's side, a unique player that Spurs need to attempt to replace in the near future.

What a baller Dembele was.

It's just a real shame that injuries often hampered his form. Rarely did the 32-year-old manage to get a full, uninterrupted Premier League season under his belt.

He's now out in China with Guangzhou R&F to see out the last remaining years of his professional career.

So how did Dembele become one of the world's elite box-to-box midfielder, one capable of retaining possession so well?

It stemmed from his upbringing in Belgium, with Dembele telling the Daily Mail back in 2012: "Before I always played on the street with two lampposts that were like a basketball pitch, and we could not shoot. You had to dribble and touch the ball on the posts to score. We never shoot the ball."

Many will say his lack of goals and assists - 12 apiece in 243 Premier League games - means he should not rank in the upper echelons of great midfielders.

But anyone with an eye for the intricate and beautiful side of the game knows he belongs among the elite, a player with a repertoire of skills that simply cannot be taught!
