As it was reported earlier this week, Khabib Nurmagomedov is currently in his homeland of Russia, and with his country reportedly heading into lockdown and closing their borders due to the spread of coronavirus, he could be stuck there.Of course, that means he wouldn't be able to travel in order to compete at UFC 249, which is currently scheduled for April 18.Khabib is scheduled to main event the show alongside American Tony Ferguson; a saying we've said before numerous times... four to be precise. However, it now looks like UFC 249 and April 18 will be yet another event and date added to the list of cancellations between the two fighters. The company have organised this fight to take place FIVE times now, and in four previous occasions, the fight simply hasn't gone ahead.Injuries to both fighters and failure to make weight have been the two issues leading up to fights, but this year it's something completely out of their control and a completely isolated incident. The coronavirus has spread rapidly worldwide and it has led to many countries entering lockdown and closing their borders.Public gatherings have been banned nearly everywhere, which means running a sporting event is nearly impossible. However, UFC president Dana White has been desperate to keep the show on the road and was reportedly moving it from America to United Arab Emirates in order for it to go ahead. BUT, with Khabib now in Russia, it looks like the show will have to go on without him.Enter Conor McGregor.Yes, you read that right; maybe McGregor could be a last-minute replacement and fight Ferguson himself?

He returned to the Octagon back in January, dismantling Donald Cerrone inside one round, and his coach John Kavanagh has hinted that he could be a realistic option.

Responding to a tweet made by an ESPN journalist asking what Ferguson should do in this situation, Kavanagh replied with a simple: "maybe there's a third option..."

Ariel Helwana was the journalist who tweeted out two options for Ferguson; one saying wait for Khabib, and the other saying take on Justin Gaethje.

However, Kavanagh was quick to reply and quick to let him know there is a third option out there.

But then, in the last hour, Kavanagh tweeted again about being in a rush to get to the airport... silly games on April Fool's Day? Or genuine last-minute plans?

Either way, Tony Ferguson vs Conor McGregor? Yes please!
