Fabricio Werdum has taken some heavy hits from the best of the best in his time in the Octagon but perhaps nobody he stepped up to in MMA had the kind of power that Mike Tyson possesses.

Werdum has been rocked with punches from the likes of Fedor Emelianenko, Stipe Miocic and Alistair Overeem in the world of mixed martial arts but Tyson remains in an echelon above that.

And the former UFC heavyweight champion can now attest to that.

Werdum has revealed that, whilst filming fight scenes for upcoming movie Kickboxer: Retaliation, he almost had his nose broken by the baddest man on the planet.

The pair of combat sports legends traded blows and Tyson rocked him with his famous power.

In an interview with TMZ Sports, Werdum confirmed: "It’s amazing. Mike Tyson punched my nose too, an accident. But he punched me and almost broke my nose.

"Because I’m an actor, he’s an actor too and he’s good. He’s a funny guy, he’s a very nice guy but he punches very hard.

"It almost knocked me down but it’s good. I feel good because it’s Mike Tyson, no other guy. Maybe with another guy, I wouldn't feel good if they punched my face but Mike Tyson is OK."

Werdum, despite his track record of 23 wins inside the Octagon, was in good spirits despite the clash on set. He found it in himself to laugh off the punch, of course accidental, from one of boxing’s hardest fighters.

The Brazilian, whose 23 career wins comprised of 11 submissions and 6 knockouts, unified the UFC Heavyweight division in the summer of 2015 against Cain Velasquez. His last fight in MMA was at a UFC Fight Night in London in March 2018.

He has claimed that he wasn’t tempted to give Iron Mike a receipt for the punch, he did joke that he almost brought Tyson into his world.

"No, no, no," Werdum said. "Maybe I take down him."
