WWE news: Triple H admits WWE considered cancelling or postponing WrestleMania 36

Triple H has admitted WWE considered postponing or cancelling WrestleMania 36 amid the coronavirus outbreak, before eventually deciding to push on.

The Showcase of Immortals will air this weekend, on both Saturday and Sunday, from the Performance Center in Orlando.

But many fans believe the event shouldn’t go ahead and according to the Executive Vice President of WWE, that was discussed by the company.

“I think [postponing or cancelling] was obviously considered but we feel like it’s an obligation for us,” Triple H said during an interview with ESPN, per Wrestling Inc.

“Our fans have been there for us for years and years and years and we want to be there for them in this time where everybody is just doing the best to get through this.

“We feel an obligation to give them that. Whether it’s exactly what we would like it to be or they would like it to be, it probably won’t be, but it will be a version of that.”

Triple H then went on to say people shouldn’t take WWE ‘too seriously’ and should take it for what it is – an ‘entertainment source’.

“Sometimes people get very caught up in what we do, the arguments of what’s happening and why and should’ve done this or that,” he continued.

“But at the end of the day if you don’t take it too seriously and you enjoy WWE for what it is – an entertainment source – [then] the intent is putting a smile on your face.

“If you can forget all that and put it aside and just sit in front of your set and just be entertained by what we do, then we’ve succeeded.”

It’s not often someone so high up in WWE will take so openly about the product as Triple H has done this week.

But there’s our answer. WrestleMania may not be ‘exactly what we want it to be’ this year, but it will be going ahead regardless because WWE wants to deliver for the fans once again.
