Jesse Lingard will reportedly be sold by Manchester United in the next available summer transfer window.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has ran out of patience with the out-of-form Englishman, with Lingard failing to assist or score a Premier League goal in over a year.

As such, Lingard is all set to be part of the United manager's end-of-season clear out, especially following the arrival of the impressive Bruno Fernandes.

But it's likely Lingard wouldn't be without elite-level suitors prior to his exit, with Arsenal being touted as a very realistic destination for the 27-year-old.

The Gunners will likely need a replacement for the on-loan Dani Ceballos, who will all but certainly not be completing a permanent move to north London from Real Madrid.

The Athletic report that Arsenal making a move for Lingard would be 'hard to rule out', mainly down to the presence of the Gunners' transfer chief Raul Sanllehi.

He is ranked among the favourites to deal with Lingard's controversial agent Mino Raiola, with Wolves, Watford and Sheffield United the other potential destinations touted in the Athletic's report.

On the face of it, Arsenal will be in need of a player like Lingard, with the Englishman converting himself into more of a central attacking midfielder in recent years.

At the 2018 World Cup, Lingard was used in an attacking midfield two alongside Dele Alli and Arsenal do lack offensive-thinking midfielders capable of creating.

However, while Lingard is that kind of player by trade, he surely isn't capable of being the playmaker Mikel Arteta's team sorely need to break back into the top four?

This is a guy who's output in the Premier League across the last 12 months is laughable and the Gunners need a player capable of lifting the entire squad - not attracting unnecessary criticism.
