Athletics star Caster Semenya has smashed Cristiano Ronaldo’s ‘core crusher challenge’ record in the Nike Living Room Cup challenge.

Ronaldo urged his fans to take part in the challenge, which involves touching your toes as many times as possible while lying flat on your back, in a video posted on Instagram on Sunday.

It’s part of an initiative aiming to promote exercise during the coronavirus lockdown. Several sports stars and social media users have taken part, with Semenya managing more reps than Ronaldo.

The Juventus forward’s tally of 142 reps in the allotted 45-second timeframe was nothing for Semenya, who managed 176 reps.

The South African runner took to Instagram to share her attempt, writing: “Hola fellas thanks to @cristiano for his challenge, the beast himself did his best, I also manage to scoop 176 in that space of 45 seconds.

“Not bad for a Sunday ke ya baba mfo.”

Manchester United’s Portuguese duo Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot also took up the challenge but neither could beat Ronaldo, managing 117 and 105 reps respectively.

Both Semenya and Ronaldo saw their summer plans dashed as a result of coronavirus.

Semenya, 29, was planning to compete at the Olympic Games in Tokyo, while Ronaldo was expecting to lead Portugal’s defence of the European Championship.

Both events will now take place in 2021.

Ronaldo has been updating his Instagram followers with his activities during lockdown and if one thing is clear, it’s that he’s staying in shape.

But we also saw the lighter side of his life when he shared a video of his girlfriend, Georgina Rodriguez, shaving his hair.

Rodriguez takes the clippers to Ronaldo’s hair in a video captioned: “Stay home and keep stylish.”

The 35-year-old was probably trying to beat Semenya’s 176 reps as soon as his haircut was finished.
