Jack Grealish would be wise to follow his own advice after he was reportedly involved in a car accident on his way to visit a friend at the weekend.
Like most other football fans living in lockdown amid the coronavirus pandemic, the Aston Villa captain must be itching for the Premier League to resume as soon as it’s safe to do so.
But after his longing for freedom led him to breach government restrictions on Sunday, Grealish has encouraged his social media followers to learn from his foolishness.
In an apology video posted on his Twitter, the 24-year-old said: “I know it’s a tough time for everyone at the moment being locked indoors for so long. I obviously just got a call off a friend asking to go around to his and I stupidly agreed to do so.
“I don’t want anyone to make the same mistake that I did, so I obviously urge everyone to stay at home and follow the rules and the guidelines of what we’ve been asked to do. I know for a fact that I’ll be doing that in the near future now and I urge everyone to do the same.”
Now that Grealish has vowed to stay indoors as required, it seems likely his copy of FIFA 20 will be getting a serious workout for the foreseeable future.
The Villa midfielder is clearly a big fan of the football sim after an image of his Ultimate Team was shared online.
Reddit user Molerat_king came up against Grealish in the FUT Champions Weekend League and managed to secure a 4-2 win over a side packed with legendary quality.
Managed by Steven Gerrard, the team lines up in a 4-1-3-2 formation, with goalkeeper Lev Yashin (94) protected by a centre-back pairing of Paolo Maldini (92) and Team of the Year Virgil van Dijk (99).
The full-back roles are occupied by Team of the Year Trent Alexander-Arnold (95) and Roberto Carlos (93), which is only the tip of the iceberg regarding Grealish’s options going forward.
Two Team of the Year cards in Sadio Mane (97) and Lionel Messi (99) are on the wings, either side of a tantalising midfield partnership of Zinedine Zidane (96) and Grealish’s 99-rated Pro card.
Up front, Pele (95) and Ronaldo Nazario (94) combine to make the kind of strikeforce no defender should ever have to endure facing.
Check it out the team as it appears in-game below…
No matter how good Molerat_king might be at FIFA 20, beating a Premier League footballer with such an incredible team to work with is something he won’t forget anytime soon.
