Man City's Nicolas Otamendi has a tattoo of Walter White & Tommy Shelby on his back

With hours to kill in either lockdown or self-isolation, those with tattoos will have plenty of time to fawn over the ink on their bodies.

In the footballing world, tattoos are incredibly common, with most of the top players sporting at least one work of art.

The only notable exception is surprisingly Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese superstar is famed for his vanity, but he’s never decided to alter his look with ink.

But the same cannot be said for Manchester City defender, Nicolas Otamendi. That’s because the Argentine has one of the most intriguing tattoos in football spread across his back.

The piece features images of both Walter White from the television series Breaking Bad (played by Bryan Cranston) and Tommy Shelby from Peaky Bliners (played by Cillian Murphy).

You can view Otamendi’s tattoo in full below.

It’s certainly not poorly done, but you have to question whether permanently inking your body with images of recent television shows is a good idea.

But don’t worry, Otamendi is far from the first to get a TV character tattoo.

A whole host of big name stars have done just the same. Ex-Liverpool playmaker Philippe Coutinho even has Mickey Mouse tattooed onto his torso.

Then you have Tottenham’s Dele Alli, who has Flintstones character Bamm-Bamm Rubble inked on his arm.

Brazil and PSG superstar Neymar has both Batman and Spiderman sprawled across his back and to be fair to him, they look pretty darn cool.

But perhaps the most interesting one of all belongs to ex-AC Milan striker, Alberto Gilardino.

Why’s that? Because the Italian has Peppa Pig on his left bicep. His daughter reportedly demanded he pay homage to the loveable cartoon character.

Once the coronavirus pandemic is over and footballers have treated themselves to hours and hours of television, we may see a few more tattoos reminiscent of the aforementioned stars…
