Conor McGregor refuses to let his feud with Khabib Nurmagomedov lay as he took to social media to hurl more insults at the UFC lightweight champion.Notorious has since deleted the post, but that hasn’t stopped people screenshotting it.The pair, seemingly diametrically opposed in all walks of life, have been mortal enemies for years. Khabib secured a submission victory back in October 2018 at UFC 229, but this particular verbal sparring does not look like ceasing any time soon. The bad blood continued to spill immediately after the contest with both camps fighting immediately after the bell.In the Twitter post, McGregor listed himself among other MMA greats, listing the likes of Anderson Silva, Mirko Cro Cop and Ronda Rousey among others.Within, he took a dig at Khabib’s fighting style.“Conor’s left hand. Anderson’s front kick. Ronda’s armbar. Hendo’s bomb. Cro Cop’s high kick. Jon’s side kick to the knees over and over again and actually the only thing at this stage? Khabib’s little mermaid leg wrap thing he does. What a sport! Who’s the greatest, you already know.”

Khabib was scheduled to defend his UFC lightweight championship against Tony Ferguson on April 18, but the Russian has been quarantined in his homeland over fears of the coronavirus pandemic. It is now the fifth time a fight between the pair has been cancelled.

Justin Gaethje has since taken Nurmagomedov’s spot at UFC 249, with a fight against Khabib to unify the lightweight division likely for later on in the year.

McGregor, on the other hand, made his long-awaited return back to the Octagon in January in a 40-second TKO victory over Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone at UFC 246 in Las Vegas. It was the Irishman’s first MMA bout since the defeat to Khabib.

McGregor’s head coach John Kavanagh had revealed to ESPN that there has been talks of a potential lightweight clash between McGregor and Gaethje. However, such discussions have fallen to COVID-19.

With Gaethje and Ferguson competing for the interim lightweight title, this leaves McGregor out in the cold with Dana White lining up a unification bout with Khabib.
