Lionel Messi has taken to social media to deny a number of news reports about his future and his relationship with Ronaldinho, who has recently been released from prison.

The Barcelona superstar has been linked with a move away from Camp Nou in recent weeks, with Inter Milan a reported destination.

Another story suggested Messi gave money to his former teammate Ronaldinho to help him pay bail.

But on Thursday night, the Argentine denied both of those reports on Instagram.

Screenshotting a tweet from TNT Sports, Messi wrote '#FakeNews' and 'Lie 1: Messi to Inter,
Lie 2: Messi gave money to Ronaldinho in jail' before sharing with his 147 million followers.

He then added another sentence, which translates to: "What they said about Newell's Old Boys a few weeks ago is also false, thank God no one believed them..."

It's not usual to see Messi hit out so publically at reports about his life. These must really have got under his skin.

Well done to him for calling out the fake news.

GIVEMESPORT's Ollie Browning says:

Did anyone really think he was going to leave Barcelona this summer?

The six-time Ballon d'Or winner has spent his entire professional career in Catalonia, establishing himself as the greatest footballer of all-time.

What would a move to Inter really achieve - apart from a Serie A reunion with his rival Cristiano Ronaldo?

Are the Italian club in a better position than Barca to challenge for the Champions League? We know that's the trophy Messi is desperate to win again.

The answer is probably not, even though they made a number of big signings ahead of the 2019-20 season.

Messi is far better off staying at Camp Nou, not just beyond this season, but perhaps even for the rest of his career.
