It’s been a funny old season for Manchester United.

At one point, it looked as though it was a matter of time before Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was sacked as they seemed well and truly out of the race for a top-four finish.

After a 2-2 draw at home to Aston Villa in December, United were ninth and reports emerged that Solskajer had told his players he would be sacked if they lost their next two matches against Tottenham and Manchester City.

We never found out whether or not those reports were true as United miraculously won both of them 2-1.

There have been low points since then like a 2-0 home loss to Burnley, but before the suspension of football due to coronavirus, United were 11 games unbeaten in all competitions.

They’re just three points behind Chelsea in fourth, through to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup and have one foot in the quarter-finals of the Europa League.

But there’s no doubt about it, this United squad needs improving.

And one fan has proved it with his ‘tier maker’ ranking.

Twitter user “UtdAlii” has ranked the entire United squad from “world-class” to “Sell.”

The fact there are zero players in the “world class” category, many in the “average” category and numerous in the “sell” category just about sums it up.

Let’s take a look:

World Class - None

Very Good - Paul Pogba, Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford, Aaron Wan-Bissaka & Anthony Martial

First Team Quality - David De Gea & Eric Bailly

Average - Brandon Williams, Victor Lindelof, Angel Gomes, Daniel James, Diogo Dalot, Luke Shaw, Odion Ighalo, Axel Tuanzebe, Nemanja Matic, Scott McTominay, Lee Grant, Sergio Romero, Fred & Harry Maguire

Future Star - Mason Greenwood

Sell - Andreas Pereira, Alexis Sanchez, Marcos Rojo, Chris Smalling, Jesse Lingard, Timothy Fosu-Mensah, James Garner, Tahith Chong, Juan Mata & Joel Pereira

To be honest, we think the Tiermaker is pretty fair.

There’s an argument that Paul Pogba is “world-class” on his day, while David de Gea and even Eric Bailly could be considered “very good.”

And you can’t exactly argue with the ten players in the “sell” category.

Are you listening, Ole?
