Arsenal defender target Eliaquim Mangala is ready to move to a bigger league, claims his agent.

The French U21 international has, like a handful of his teammates at Standard Liege, been courting interest from a number of clubs across Europe, with Arsenal and Spurs thought to be leading the chase from the Barclays Premier League.

Agent Fabrizio Ferrari confirmed that the player is ready to step-up from the Belgian Pro League, with England a potential future destination for the talented 20-year-old.

"I think he is ready to move on and play in another championship - even if Standard is regarded as one of the top clubs in Europe. I hope to have some offers from English clubs (in the summer)," Ferrari told tribalfootball.

With a Champions League goal against Arsenal to his name, Arsene Wenger certainly knows of the player's attacking talents in the air. It's his defensive attributes which have made him a target though.

The Gunners are known to be in the market for a centre back, with injuries heavily affecting the back line at the Emirates this season. With Thomas Vermaelen missing the majority of the season, the threadbare defence has been exposed at Arsenal despite the club challenging for four trophies until late February.

Per Mertesacker, Chris Samba and Richard Dunne were all linked with a move in the summer, while Stefan de Vrij is a youngster that the north London club appear destined to miss out on too.

Mangala is the latest player to appear on the Arsenal defender wish list, and the French professor will have a decision to make at the end of the season regarding a firm target in the problem position.
