Carl Froch has revealed he is prepared to come out of retirement to fight Joe Calzaghe, but a fight between the pair has already taken place... on Fight Night Champion.

Froch, 42, made the comments after being invited onto a virtual press conference by former promoter Eddie Hearn.

Speaking on his ‘Froch on Fighting’ Podcast, he said: “Eddie Hearn sends me a message saying, ‘I’m doing some virtual press conferences, I’m thinking about getting you and Calzaghe on.’

“I thought, ‘He’s probably not gonna get Calzaghe on, he probably won’t fancy it.’

“I said to him, ‘Forget the virtual one, we’ll do the press conference, but if we can get him out of retirement, I fancy a bit of that.’

“I’ve always said I’ll come out of retirement for the right dance partner."

Froch then went on to attack Calzaghe and his appearance, very blatantly trying to spark a reaction from the undefeated Welshman.

Well, he's undefeated in the real world, but he isn't on Fight Night Champion, as when the two boxers were put together in the ring by YouTube channel 'Boxing Fight Simulations', it was Cobra who ran out winner.

Back in January, a simulated version of the bout was shared on YouTube with Froch coming out victorious on a points decision after dropping his opponent with just 30 seconds left in the final round.

The battle was narrowly fought between the duo. Calzaghe led the judges’ verdicts in the opening few rounds before Froch took a landslide victory in rounds eight to 12.

Of course, not much can be said for a simulated version, but it's currently all we can go on.

Whether Froch and Calzaghe will actually share the ring one day is unknown, but what we do know is when it comes to the simulated world, it's the former that's the champion.
