The ongoing feud between Floyd Mayweather and Marcos Maidana appears to have no signs of ending any time soon. This is despite the fact ‘The Money’ has beaten the former two-weight world champion on two occasions, the most recent being almost six years ago back in 2014.In the fight fittingly billed as ‘Mayhem’, the Argentine fighter claims to still have Mayweather’s tooth, which flew out of the American’s mouth following a perfectly placed hook that Maidana landed in the third round of the bout. That did not stop Mayweather however, who went on to win the fight via unanimous decision, which took his record at the time to 47-0.Despite that loss, it did not prevent Maidana six years on sharing with the world via social media the American’s tooth. This post sparked an intriguing exchange between the pair on social media, with Mayweather promotions putting out a video of Maidana losing to ‘The Money’ and saying:“They thought that they could crack the MayVinci code.”Team Maidana then said that they would be ready to rumble early next year and would be prepared to make a much-anticipated trilogy bout.Since that 2014 fight, however, Maidana has not fought, with the 29-year old retiring from professional boxing but it seems that the Argentine is now ready to dust off his gloves and make his anticipated return to the ring.Maidana was actually meant to take part in an exhibition fight later this month against kickboxing star Jorge Cali but the COVID-19 global virus has put that event on hold.

Following the postponement of the fight and Maidana’s rumoured boxing return, Cali said:

“Maidana is only 36 years old and he can definitely come back (to full-time professional boxing). I know he would believe that if he had a new fight with Floyd, he could win with no doubts this time.

“I think we all saw the first fight and thought that Mayweather won. That’s why there was a second one where Floyd proved that he was the undisputed number one.”

It is as of yet unclear whether the undefeated Mayweather will ever return to the ring and accept the challenge, having suffered a difficult few weeks with the mother of three of his children, Josie Harris sadly passing away and his former trainer and Uncle, Roger Mayweather also dying at the age of 58.
