In 1998, FourFourTwo predicted how David Beckham would look in 2020

David Beckham remains one of the most popular men in the football world.

As well as being blessed with incredible football talent, the Englishman is also blessed with good looks.

That fact was recognised when Beckham was named the sexiest man alive in 2015 by People’s magazine.

Five years on and now, at 44 years old, he still hasn’t lost any of his looks.

But not everyone thought Beckham would still look attractive in his mid-40s.

That’s because, in 1998, FourFourTwo decided have a bit of fun and predict how Beckham would look in 2020.

They used photoshop to come up with the image and to say it’s horrifying is an understatement.

Just in case you’ve forgotten what Beckham looks like, here’s an image of him from earlier this year:

And now here’s how FourFourTwo predicted Beckham would look like today, as tweeted by Ian Walker:

Balding, missing teeth and wrinkled skin… that is horrifying.

Fair to say FourFourTwo didn’t have very high hopes for Beckham.

Underneath the image they wrote the following caption: “Things went distinctly pear-shaped for the Man United starlet after his club missed out on the 1998 championship and he lost his entire personal fortune in the Brylcreem crash of 2005,” FourFourTwo predicted.

“Now well into his forties, he is reduced to appearing for England veterans’ teams alongside his fellow Fergie fledglings and reminiscing wistfully about his glory days.

“Posh Spice, who has ballooned to 20st since her singing career collapsed, now models clothes for ‘the larger lady’.”

Clearly they were just having a laugh but it’s still hilarious either way.

They also predicted what other high-profile names back in 1998 looked like, as you can see a slight glimpse of their prediction for Ruud Gullit in the above image.

Walker did tweet how they thought then Liverpool winger Steve McManaman would look like 22 years in the future.

Just a bit off to what he looks like today…

Their prediction for McManaman is slightly better than their prediction for Beckham. That just says it all…
