Highly rated Eredivisie striker Ahmed Musa is a £5million transfer target for Tottenham Hotspur reports the Daily Star.

The 18-year-old Nigerian front man has been the talk of the Dutch first division this season following a number of eye-catching displays for VVV Venlo.

The promising youngster is also thought to be attracting attention from Dutch giants Ajax Amsterdam as well as Bundesliga leaders Borussia Dortmund.

Spurs manager Harry Redknapp is facing a three-way battle to bring Musa to White Hart Lane when the transfer window reopens in the summer.

Tottenham officials are said to have made preliminary inquiries as to the explosive forward's availability, and are keen to step up their pursuit in light of additional interest from Holland and Germany.

Redknapp is keen to add to his attacking options and was linked with a whole host of strikers in the recent January transfer window, but to no avail.

Musa, who can also operate on either flank is seen as a very exciting prospect, and one that Spurs are very keen to bring to White Hart Lane with a view to nurturing ahead of a bright future as a Barclays Premier League star.

He has all the attributes to succeed in England - raw pace, skill and an eye for goal. And Musa's recent performances have also been recognised by a call-up to the Nigerian national team despite his tender age.

Musa could not be blamed for being distracted by all the hype currently surrounding him, what with leading European clubs such as Ajax, Dortmund, and Champions League quarter finalists Tottenham Hotspur.

But in a recent interview, the African ace appeared surprisingly grounded, showing maturity beyond his years:

"All I can say is that I will wait to see what happens at the end of the season. But I'm enjoying my game at my club because I play regularly," he said.
