YouTuber names the most overpaid footballer for every age from 18-38

Footballers' wages are in the spotlight more than ever right now.

UK Health Secretary Matt Hancock ignited a huge row when he asked Premier League players to take a pay cut amidst the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

However, they've instead done themselves proud by coming up with a 'Players Together' initiative to raise funds for the National Health Service (NHS).

The truth is, no matter what footballers do, they're always going to be labelled as 'overpaid' by many.

There's no getting away from the fact that those in the top flight especially take home staggering, truly eye-watering sums of money every week.

Their respective clubs might feel that they're worth every penny, but some don't even deliver in return for their millions.

That's led HITC Sport's 'The Irish Guy' over on their YouTube channel to list the most overpaid footballer by what they earn every *SEVEN DAYS* at every age from 18 to 38.

You can see the full video below:

18 - Takefusa Kubo - £50,000

The midfielder's still just a kid but he takes home a huge pay cheque at Real Mallorca courtesy of being on loan from Real Madrid - having not made it at Barcelona at youth level.

19 - Callum Hudson-Odoi - £120,000

Bayern Munich's interest forced Chelsea's hand a little into handing the England international a new deal.

20 - Matthijs de Ligt - £270,000

The Dutchman has found it tough in his first season at Juventus - not to mention add-ons could actually take that wage to £415,000-a-week.

21 - Gianluigi Donnarumma - £200,000

The young goalkeeper has over 200 games under his belt. He's listed largely because AC Milan have struggled to hit their former heights during his time between the sticks, though that's not really been his fault.

22 - Luka Jovic - £170,000

Two La Liga goals all season isn't exactly a great return for the Serbian international.

23 - Joelinton - £85,000

Newcastle's highest earner and what's he given the Magpies back? A grand total of three goals in 29 games.

24 - Anthony Martial - £250,000

The Frenchman is enjoying his finest season at Manchester United so far, but he's just not consistent enough.

25 - Adrien Rabiot - £225,000

Rabiot only gets such high wages because he was signed on a free transfer. Probably a fair comment.

26 - Paulo Dybala - £200,000

Controversial. Dybala is, of course, very highly-rated by everyone. We say everyone, except Juventus, who seem to spend most of their time trying to sell the Argentine.

27 - Jese Rodriguez - £100,000

PSG had high hopes signing him from Real but he's made just 10 league appearances in half a decade and gone on four loan spells.

28 - Oscar - £400,000

Oscar was never going to turn that sort of money down in the Chinese Super League. The Brazilian has only won one league title there, though.

29 - David de Gea - £375,000

There was a time when the Spanish stopper was priceless for United but more recently, he's made clanger after clanger.

30 - Ander Herrera - £300,000

Herrera shone at Old Trafford and yet he hasn't exactly put in too many mind-blowing performances at PSG.

31 - Alexis Sanchez - £400,000

Any complaints about this one? Nope, thought not.

32 - Mohamed Diame - £100,000

He's derided as "Championship standard" who should "probably be playing for someone like Hull". Ouch.

33 - Hulk - £400,000

Another player who quit Europe for the riches of China. Even though he's impressed in the Far East, you can't help but feel he doesn't need such astronomical wages.

34 - Graziano Pelle - £260,000

The former Southampton striker is probably shushing his critics as we speak, especially with a run of 43 goals in his last 72 games.

35 - Andres Iniesta - £450,000

"Do Vissel Kobe not understand the mechanics of time?!" Iniesta is inevitably past his best but he's still had his moments in Japan.

36 - Yaya Toure - £150,000

Toure earned a lot more during his time at Manchester City. Now though, he'll be playing for a side in China battling relegation.

37 - Franck Ribery - £100,000

Fiorentina are 13th in Serie A and Ribery has made just nine starts.

38 - Zlatan Ibrahimovic - £110,000

One last lucrative payday for Zlatan. The legend will weigh in with a few goals for AC Milan, but for what? So they can qualify for the Europa League?

The bigger the name, the bigger the pay cheque.

Football clubs might suddenly find themselves scratching around for the pennies down the back of the sofa but until recently, they were dishing out these kinds of contracts without a care in the world.
