It's hard to win the Premier League... just ask Steven Gerrard.

The Englishman is a Premier League legend having made 540 appearances and scored 120 goals in the competition.

However, despite his best efforts, he was unable to drag Liverpool to the title.

He is, without question, the best player to have never been given a Premier League winners' medal.

Players much less deserving than Gerrard have somehow managed to be given a medal.

According to Wikipedia, 262 players have been given a winners' medal.

We've listed the 13 luckiest players in that list below...

Christopher Wreh

Wreh won the Premier League title with Arsenal in 1998, featuring 16 times and scoring three goals.

But he would leave two years later and his career would go rapidly downhill.

Just six years after winning a Premier League medal and at the age of 29, he was turning out for Buckingham Town. Ouch.

Ritchie de Laet

De Laet played 12 Premier League games for Leicester in the 2015/16 season before being sent out on loan to Middlesborough.

He ended up being given a Premier League winners medal and a Championship winners medal in the same season. Impressive.

Costel Pantilimon

Pantilimon was never good enough for Manchester City but he managed to make seven appearances in the 2013/14 season.

Alexander Büttner

Buttner made just five appearances for United in the 2012/13 season, scoring twice.

He left the club a year later having made just 28 appearances in their two seasons.

Pascal Cygan

Cygan actually managed to last four years at Arsenal, which is pretty incredible.

He was a member of Arsenal's invincible side, making 18 appearances.

Jérémie Aliadière

Aliadière was a promising youngster who never fulfilled his potential.

He only scored one Premier League goal for Arsenal in 29 appearances, but he featured in enough games to be given a medal in the 03/04 season.

Stuart Taylor

Taylor made just 95 appearances in his whole career. No, really.

10 of those came in the 2001/02 season, enough to win him a medal at Arsenal.

Igors Stepanovs

The Latvian was out of his depth at Arsenal but made enough appearances to be given a Premier League medal in 2001.

Just look at his face below. Even he can't fathom how he managed to play for Arsenal and win two of the biggest trophies in England.

Ronnie Wallwork

Wallwork spent much of his career in the Football League, but was part of Man United's Premier League winning side in 2001.

Luke Chadwick

Yes, Chadwick has a Premier League winners medal and Gerrard doesn't.

He spent most of his career in League One with MK Dons.

Jesper Blomqvist

Blomqvist made 25 appearances for United in the 1998/99 season, scoring once.

Injuries problems followed and he was plying his trade back in Sweden while still in his 20s.

Nathan Dyer

Dyer joined Leicester City on loan at the start of the 2015/16 season.

He never made a Premier League start for the club, with all 12 of his appearances coming off the bench.

Tomasz Kuszczak

Kuszczak wasn't anything spectacular but he was a solid 'keeper.

Amazingly, he has THREE Premier League winners medals, despite making a combined 20 appearances in those seasons.

It's incredible to think that all these players have Premier League winners medals... and Gerrard doesn't.
