Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn has this past week expressed an interest in creating a new boxing video game.Speaking on his Instagram live account during a Q&A, Hearn observed that only a handful of boxing games have been released recently with the last EA Fight Night game launched in 2011.The iconic hook of EA’s Fight Night series was being able to step into the ring as some of the greatest boxers to wear the gloves; this included the late great Muhammed Ali and ‘iron’ Mike Tyson.EA, however, have put their Fight Night series on hold to focus all their efforts on other combat games such as the UFC franchise. With Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing currently not holding any events for the next few months after recent matches such as Anthony Joshua vs Kubrat Pulev and Dereck Chisora vs Oleksandr Usyk being postponed, Hearn said:“Do you know what? EA Sports don’t really seem interested in boxing and Fight Night. So should I just do one myself?“The one and only big K (Prince Khalid) will get it sorted and launch our own rival boxing game to Fight Night.”Hearn has also previously spoken to the BoxingVoice where he said:“ Every time I tweet about the prospect of game, it goes crazy!”To emphasise his point, Hearn sought out the opinion of his fans on Twitter and the reaction was overwhelmingly positive:

British and Commonwealth champion, Joe Cordina said:

“100000% just make sure I’m on it”

While fellow boxer, Gamal Yafai tweeted: “Make it happen Eddie Hearn!”

One fan meanwhile, even requested making current WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury’s dad, John Fury as an available character.

Following the latest reactions to this idea, it seems the people have spoken!

A new boxing game is well overdue and after a whole generation have missed out on playing as such decorated legends of the sport, it would surely be foolish to deprive them of this prospect any longer!
