For many footballing nations, fans hope for just one genuinely world-class goalkeeper to provide a sense of defensive stability.

Well, Brazil is spoilt for choice - with the South American side boasting two.

Both Allison and Ederson turn out for England's leading sides in the form of Liverpool and Manchester City. However, Brazil boss Tite is left with a momentous headache each international break regarding who will occupy the goalkeeper jersey.

So, who should start for Brazil - well, obviously, the wise readers of GiveMeSport were the perfect people to ask. Therefore, we settled this debate over a Facebook pole which consisted of 83,000 voters - and there was a clear and obvious winner.

With 82% of the vote, Allison should start for Tite's Brazil once international football resumes. Given his domestic credentials, it's difficult to disagree with the GiveMeSport voters.

Allison's 2019/20 season was fairly disrupted due to injury, with Adrian filling the gaping hole at Anfield. Nevertheless, in 20 Premier League games this season, the Brazilian stopper has kept ten clean sheets and conceded just 11 goals.

In comparison to Ederson, the Manchester City stopper has recorded nine clean sheets this season and has played an extra five Premier League fixtures than his Brazilian counterpart.

Allison was recognised for his efforts in 2019, as he was named The Best FIFA Goalkeeper and previously won the Premier League Golden Glove last year when Ederson's Manchester City was crowned league champions.

Despite the overwhelming support for Alisson, the topic still seems to be hotly debated in the GiveMeSport comments.

"Ederson is better, just doesn’t have Van Dijk to keep his clean sheets," Facebook user Billy Dooley said.

While David Archipelago said, "Someone already won all the goalkeeping awards last year, and is Brazil's number 1 despite his injuries this season. That says it all."
