Ze Roberto is one of the underrated stars of Brazil's 'golden generation' during the late 1990s and early 2000s.

A brilliant left-wing back capable of playing in various midfield positions, the Sao Paolo-born star enjoyed a stellar career in European football.

Ze Roberto actually played for Real Madrid for a brief spell in 1997, but his main success on the continent came in Germany.

The Brazilian was part of the great Bayer Leverkusen side that almost won the Champions League, Bundesliga and DFB Pokal treble in 2002.

After that heartbreaking season, Ze Roberto - like many of the Bundesliga's best do - moved to Bayern Munich where he continued the fine form he'd shown over in Leverkusen.

He's a very popular guy over in Bavaria and Bayern's official Instagram account have decided to highlight to the world the ridiculous shape Ze Roberto is still in at the age of 45.

"Guess which #FCBayern legend never skips his workout?" What an absolute beast!

No wonder Ze Roberto continued playing to a professional standard until the age of 43, announcing his retirement with Palmeiras in 2017. He does know most players chill out and acquire a little spare tyre around their gut when they retire, right?

Given the fact he still looks in good enough shape to play international football, let's have a little revisit of Ze Roberto's underrated time with the Selecao.

The all-action left-wing back made 86 appearances for Brazil's senior side, scoring six goals along the way.

He was also part of the teams that won Copa Americas in 1997 and 1999, before being voted into the 2006 World Cup All-Star Team.

It's strange that he's not lauded for his achievements more, but when you play in teams alongside Ronaldo Nazario, Kaka, Adriano, Ronaldinho and more, it's sadly always bound to happen.
