April 15, 2020 will forever go down as one of the saddest days in World Wrestling Entertainment history.

Due to no fault of their own, many talented individuals lost their job with the company due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Vince McMahon announced early Wednesday that cuts were having to be made in order to balance the books and keep the company on the right path financially. Because of that, staff cuts simply had to be made.

Following that conference call, WWE then made personal phone calls around the company informing people of their decision.

At first it was six superstars released from their duties, but then more and more followed and it eventually ended up being no less than 20.

But sadly that wasn't all that was going on. People who work off-screen were also losing their jobs. Training staff, writing staff, talent relations and everything in between.

Through no fault of their own, they lost their jobs with immediate effect.

Twitter was a truly sad place last night for all WWE fans, and it was even sadder for those working for the company who had seen good friends and colleagues lose their jobs.

Unsurprisingly, a whole host of WWE talent took to their official Twitter accounts to post moving statements in support of their friends and loved ones.

Some big names posted, including Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair, Dolph Ziggler, and the list goes on and on.

Everyone was left completely devastated by the news breaking around them, and it's clear to see they were truly heartbroken at peers losing their jobs due to coronavirus.

Below you can see just a select portion of WWE superstars reacting to the awful news, and there are no doubt way more tributes being made on other social media platforms.

It's worth noting, No Way Jose was one of many superstars who lost their job due to the cuts, as was Drake Maverick, whose emotional video was quoted by Rhea Ripley, as can be seen above.

As of writing this article, three in the above screenshot lost their jobs. Hurricane Helms, Lio Rush and Heath Slater all got dismissed and posted on their official Twitter account.

Becky Lynch also broke her gimmick as 'The Man' to post a tribute to those who had fallen victim.

As you can see, more and more tweets and tributes were posted during the horrid time, which just goes to show how close they all are as a community and as a family.

These guys spend more time together than they do with their own family, travelling across America and all over the world.

Kurt Angle was another man who lost his job because of the cuts, and he took to Twitter to post the following statement: "I wanted 2 say thank you to the WWE for the time I spent there. I made many new friends and had the opportunity to work with so many talented people. To the Superstars, continue to entertain the WWE Universe as well as you possibly can. They’re the best fans in the world. #itstrue"

Renee Young also posted: "My heart breaks for anyone who has lost their job during this. I feel sick about it. Sending you guys so much love."

Wednesday, April 15, 2020 was truly a horrible day for WWE, but we are all hopeful that the ones who lost their job will land on their feet and be back one day!
