Mike Ashley’s 13-year tenure as Newcastle United owner looks finally set to be coming to an end.
Of course, we’ve been here plenty of times down the years and Newcastle fans certainly won’t be getting too excited yet.
But it seems Amanda Staveley’s PCP Capital Partners and the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) has agreed to buy the club for around £300 million.
The Saudi fund is controlled by Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who will hold 80% of the club shares, while Staveley will hold 10%. The other 10% will be controlled by billionaire brothers, David and Simon Reuben.
Newcastle fans will be wanting to know just how healthy the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia really is.
Well, the 34-year-old is believed to be worth around £7 billion.
And a look at his incredible £230 million French Chateau gives you some indication about just how rich he is.
According to The Sun, Bin Salman owns ‘the world’s most expensive house.’
Chateau Louis XIV costs just £30 million less than the cost of the reported Newcastle deal.
And it’s quite ridiculous.
It’s modelled on the 17th-century French castles and is situated near Versailles in France.
And The Sun has revealed given us a fascinating glimpse inside.
The grounds span 57 acres and it features a wine cellar with space for up to 3,000 bottles. All the fountains, sound systems, lights and air conditioning are all controlled by an iPhone.
Inside, there is a gold theme - no doubt real gold - while there is a swimming pool both inside and outside.
There is expensive art on the walls, while there is also a nightclub for Bin Salman host parties.
But perhaps the best room of all is the underwater chilling room, featuring an aquarium.
In total, there are 10 bedroom suites, a huge reception room with a 52ft-high painted dome ceiling, a library, a cinema, a squash court and two ballrooms.
It really is quite incredible.
However, it wasn’t quite incredible enough for Kim Kardashian who considered it as a venue for her wedding to Kanye West before Bin Salman purchased it. But decided against it.
