A transcript has emerged online of what Vince McMahon said to all WWE employees before making tough decisions regarding their future with the company.
It's been well documented that WWE released a whole host of workers on Wednesday, whether they be in-ring talent or off-screen talent, and it's now emerged what McMahon said to his staff before informing them of their decision.
On Wednesday morning, the 74-year-old chairman addressed the situation by admitting and revealing that cuts simply had to be made at some point due to the currant climate. The coronavirus, that has impacted essentially every sport and every business, has also taken its toll on WWE despite them continuing their shows.
McMahon confirmed that he'd be talking to his staff and the superstars about their futures and what exactly would be happening during these testing times.
Now, as per ewrestlingnews.com, who reference fightful.com, it has been revealed what the chairman said to his employees during a conference call with the staff.
“Thank you all for joining me today," he started.
"First and foremost, I hope that you and your families are safe. What we’re going through today is unprecedented, and there’s no doubt these are challenging times for everyone.
"Given the adverse effects of coronavirus and the resulting financial recession, WWE, like so many companies, have to decrease operating expenses."
McMahon then ended the call by saying: “These are not easy decisions, but reflect the reality of the environment we’re working in today. We live in a world of troubled times.
"I’m confident as a company, and most importantly, confident in you as individual employees, will pull through these tough times and come back to work and make life better than it’s ever been. Thank you.”
The conference call must have been tough for McMahon, as he will know that people have lost their jobs and livelihood through no fault of their own.
We can only echo his ending sentiment by saying we hope all those staff dismissed will find their feet once this has all blown over.
