Some football fans claim tackling is a dying art.

Gone are the days of a first-minute ‘reducer’ to let your opponent know you’re up for the game.

Nowadays, a late sliding challenge will leave you with a yellow card - or worse.

But that doesn’t stop some players who simply can’t resist having an early bath.

The likes of Sergio Ramos, Edgar Davids and Francesco Totti may be world-class players but they just love being shown a red card.

And now, transfermarkt have produced the best XI of ‘bad boys’ who have picked a ridiculous 168 red cards between them.

There have been players who have picked up more red cards - but how about this for an impressive XI.

Let’s take a look:

Goalkeeper - Jens Lehmann (7 red cards)

The former Arsenal shot-stopper was sent off a crazy SEVEN times. Not bad for a goalkeeper. Who can forget his hilarious exchange with Didier Drogba?

Right-back - Sergio Ramos (26 red cards)

The captain of the side. The 34-year-old has 26 red cards to his name - can he reach the magic 30 before he retires?

Left-back - Patrice Evra (12 red cards)

Evra once kicked one of his own fans in the head. Twelve red cards probably isn’t a surprise then.

Centre-back - Pepe (12 red cards)

How has that nutter only got 12 red cards to his name? That’s actually an achievement.

Centre-back - Marco Materazzi (15 red cards)

The man responsible for getting Zinedine Zidane sent off but the Italian has got 15 red cards of his own.

Defensive midfield - Daniele De Rossi (15 red cards)

Another Italian with 15 red cards. With that tattoo, what do you expect?

Centre-midfield - Edgar Davids (25 red cards)

Don’t be fooled by those glasses, Davids is the vice-captain of this side with 25 reds.

Centre-midfield - Zinedine Zidane (14 red cards)

Zidane’s last act as a professional footballer was to headbutt Materazzi. It was the last of his 14 - quite a lot considering how graceful he was on the pitch.

Attacking midfield - Francesco Totti (16 red cards)

The third but not the final Italian that makes this XI. Another classy player but one who wasn’t afraid of a tackle when things weren’t going his way.

Striker - Zlatan Ibrahimovic (13 red cards)

Zlatan has picked up plenty of petty red cards during his incredible career - including a few for slapping.

Striker - Mario Balotelli (13 red cards)

The true bad boy off-the-pitch and he’s pretty mischievous on it, too. Impressively, he’s been sent off for six different clubs - AC Milan, Inter Milan, Italy and Marseille, while he has also been given four red cards each for Manchester City and Nice.
