WWE news: AJ Styles shares emotional video after ‘brothers’ Gallows and Anderson are cut from WWE

WWE was rocked this week as the organisation conducted one of the biggest talent culls in history.

Despite broadcasting shows throughout the coronavirus pandemic that has brought the world of sport to its knees, the WWE is still haemorrhaging money and had no choice but to let various members go.

The sport was named an ‘essential business’ in the state of Florida this week and, as a result, will continue to broadcast shows in the coming weeks, however, it will be without some of its best names for the foreseeable future.

Kurt Angle was amongst the biggest of the names to get the axe, joining the likes of Drake Maverick, Curt Hawkins, Luke Gallows, Karl Anderson, EC3, Eric Young, Heath Slater, and Lio Rush.

It was a truly dark day for wrestling as all involved with the sport reacted to the shocking, yet somewhat expected news.

Now, superstar AJ Styles, who is known to be close friends with the aforementioned Gallows and Anderson, has taken to Twitter to share his thoughts on the dramatic week WWE has had.

Speaking in a broadcast from his home, Styles had this to say:

“As you know, Gallows and Anderson, guys who were like my brothers, were released yesterday.”

The visibly emotional Styles then continued.

“That one hurt really bad. The only way I can explain it is that these guys are my family and I couldn’t take care of my little brothers. I didn’t manage to do that and I feel responsible for them being released.

It’s devastating.

Styles then went through the extensive list of wrestlers that had been shown the door as he lamented one the most difficult weeks in the history of WWE.

“This stuff is expected with everything that’s going on but I am as shocked as you are with some of the guys that got released,” he concluded.

After the unexpected success of the closed-door WrestleMania, the WWE world has certainly come crashing back down to earth with a resounding thump.
