The atmosphere at Premier League grounds has come into focus over the last few years as top-flight sides look into ways of improving their match day experiences.

Manchester United are one of the sides that have come under the most scrutiny, with expensive ticket prices and a general consensus of an atmosphere that has been lacking in recent seasons.

But having had no football at Old Trafford for over a month now due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, it seems like the Red Devils' hierarchy have put the issue at the top of their agenda.

After the Premier League's meeting yesterday, it seems that all clubs are agreed in the stance of still trying to finish the season, even though it might not be resuming before June 8.

Like many other clubs across the UK, United have recently looked into options such as safe-standing and singing sections as a way of overcoming an atmosphere that has often been labelled as subdued and dull.

And now it looks like they're putting younger fans to the top of their priorities, with new measures that will make 1,000 youth season tickets available for next season.

Season ticket holders aged between 16 and 25 will pay £285 for the 2020/21 campaign and be allocated a seat in the Red Army section, which is situated on the right side of the Stretford End, for every game.

With ticket prices seemingly driving some fans away from the game, giving their younger fans a better, more affordable experience would be a refreshing move from United.

Especially when the statistics point to a steady decline in the number of young fans attending games, with prices and the inability to stand with friends having been cited as two major reasons.

United Group Managing Director Richard Arnold said: “I want to place on record our appreciation of the hard work and dedication from the organisers of the atmosphere section.

"The phenomenal support the team gets has been taken to a new level by this successful initiative.

"We will be seeking to build on this next season by extending this section of the Stretford End out towards the south-west corner, increasing the allocation to at least 2,000 supporters.”

It's the kind of news that every younger United supporter will have been waiting for, and with the possibility of no football for quite a few months, they will be even more desperate to get back into the stands as their side chase Champions League qualification, if this season can be completed.
