Loris Karius' Liverpool career has become defined by just one match out of the 49 he played in red.
The German's catastrophic errors in the 2018 Champions League final, which gifted goals to Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale, will endure as one of the beautiful game's biggest ever meltdowns.
However, to say that Karius' time on Merseyside was one big failure would be a gross oversight and the shot-stopper, now on loan at Besiktas, remains saddled by that night in Kiev.
When asked if he received death threats in the aftermath of the game, Karius told Sport Bild: “There were some of them. But I can’t take that seriously.
“These are people who write anonymously and don’t even show their faces in their profiles. I don’t think when people walk past me personally they can’t open their mouths.
Post-Kiev life for Karius
“Players receive some extremely hostile messages on the internet. If you read every message, you wouldn’t be able to sleep for two days.
“You can’t blame fans if they whistle a player. They pay admission and have the right to be dissatisfied. A professional has to endure that. But if there are personal insults or death threats, the limit is far exceeded.”
Too right, Loris. But regardless of the horrid reaction that greeted Karius' performance - which, it must be said, came from a minority - his time at Anfield has since become misrepresented.
Karius' best Liverpool saves
It's easy to forget that Karius actually usurped Simon Mignolet as number one in the 2017/18 season, playing 19 times in the league and helping guide the Reds to a European final.
And we want to set the record straight about Karius' time on Merseyside by directing fans to a fantastic video by YouTuber 'Saviola' from two years ago.
It highlights Karius' greatest ever saves in the famous Liverpool jersey which, by all accounts, are what you'd expect from some of the finest goalkeepers in the world.
Don't believe us? Well, you can check out the impressive evidence below for yourself:
Karius was one of the best shot-stoppers in Europe during the 2017/18 season, there's no denying it.
We're not trying to claim that Karius is anywhere near Alisson Becker's level and Liverpool were right to upgrade, but countless teams could do a lot worse than putting in a bid for the German.
His save against Everton that season was simply stunning, while his one-on-one stop at Sevilla - as well as the one he miraculously tipped on to the bar - are also worthy of applause.
That's not to mention his penalty save from Harry Kane, some remarkable acrobatics against Newcastle United and even some forgotten saves from the Champions League final itself.
Admittedly, Karius' two seasons out in Turkey since then have been inconsistent to say the very least, but hopefully his confidence has recovered sufficiently for a second coming.
It remains to be seen whether he'll ever play for Liverpool again, but we can all keep our fingers crossed that another European club takes a gamble on him that, well, isn't really a gamble.
