Man United are searching for a 'superfan' to become their social media manager

Manchester United will be eager to return to Premier League in 2020 once it’s safe to do so.

The Red Devils have experienced a topsy-turvy season under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, but the COVID-19 pandemic seemed to strike just as the 21-time champions were finding their stride.

And if the season is to resume, there’s every chance they could qualify for the Champions League or even lift silverware if they continue to progress in the FA Cup and Europa League.

If any of those three things happen, you can bet that the millions of United fans around the world will be lapping it up as the world emerges from such a difficult and uncertain time.

However, one lucky super-fan could go one step further and not only celebrate any potential success at the club, but do so as part of the team working day in, day out at Old Trafford.

Chance to work for Man Utd

It’s not everyday you get the opportunity to work for one of the biggest teams in sport, but that’s exactly what’s on offer as the Red Devils begin their search for a new social media manager.

A job advert emerged this week offering the chance for someone with experience in social media and sport to promote United to their 1.1 billion fans on Twitter and Instagram.

Per the job description, a successful applicant will be an: “energetic culture change catalyst, someone who is obsessed with data but equally obsessed with new and interesting ways to connect with fans.”

He or she will become part of a social media team at United that are described as: “tech savvy, ‘social first’ twenty-somethings” and will reportedly earn a cool £100,000-a-year.

The ‘exciting vacancy’ is described as: “a unique opportunity for an analytical, organised and creative individual to lead one of the world’s largest branded social media portfolios.”

Part of the job will involve helping “players and player agents with content and strategy” as well as being “an industry leading, established, creative and highly organised social media professional.”

Furthermore, sources have told the Mirror: “The person responsible won’t be managing individual players’ feeds.”

So, whether or not you’re qualified enough for the role, it’s pretty exciting for anybody with a passion for United and social media nonetheless. 

You could be the person to announce the club’s FA Cup victory on Twitter, creating fun and original videos with Marcus Rashford or even posting Instagram stories live from the ‘Theatre of Dreams’.

If all else fails, you could always just watch the action from the comfort for your armchair…
