A former professional golfer has opened up about her problems with dating in the past, admitting that men used to use her for free golf lessons.

Paige Spiranac was recently speaking on her own podcast ‘Playing-A’Round’ when she opened up about her experience of dating and how she was so desperate to be liked, she used to be okay with it all.

Spiranac discussed how men would ask her out and would then suggest going to a driving range to hit some balls. What seemed like an incident date suggestion at first then led to her basically giving the 'date' an hour-long free lesson to make him become a better player.

The 27-year-old, who turned professional back in 2015, hasn’t competed since missing the cut in Dubai in 2016, but since then she has become somewhat of an internet sensation.

Her Instagram boasts a mass following, and it's clear to see she's got a very large fanbase, whether that be for her golf skills or for her looks.

Either way, Spiranac has done alright for herself, but in her recent podcast episode, she was more than happy to discuss not such good times, and the problems with dating men when you were a pro-golfer.

She said: “I would always open up a conversation with, ‘Hey I play golf’ and anything along those lines and I thought that it would work.

“Unfortunately, guys were using me for golf lessons, golf equipment and golf balls.

“(They’d say) ‘So Paige, let’s go out on a golf date. I’ll take you to this driving range and we can just hit golf balls’ and I’d be like, ‘Yeah, that sounds awesome’. It would turn into an hour lesson of me just helping the guy become a better golfer.

“That happened all the time, since I was desperate and I wanted guys to like me.”

Fortunately for the 27-year-old, she is now engaged, so her dating woes are a thing of the past, but that hasn't stopped her reflecting on what were truly horrid times.

“There was this other guy who did the same thing but he wanted golf lessons, and he would text me like 24/7, he was really cute and flirty with me.

“But the only time we would go on ‘dates’ – and I put that in air quotes – is because they were lessons, and so I would sit there and give him lessons, and he didn’t tell me he had a girlfriend for six months!

“Six months and all of these lessons and nothing happened. He was like, ‘I just want to take it slow, can you help me with my takeaway?’

“It happened all the time and I never learnt my lesson because I thought, ‘This is my way in, guys think I’m cool because I play golf’. Then it just turned into me giving them golf balls and getting them on courses for free.

“They were all in other relationships!”

Come on, guys, be better than that!

We all want to be handy with a golf club, but there's ways of going about doing it!
