South Korean women's golf tour to restart in May after reports of a drop in the number of cases of COVID-19.

South Korea reported eight new COVID-19 cases on April 19, the first time in two months that the daily figure remained in a single digit. 

Prime Minister Chung Sye-Kyun advised sporting bodies that outdoor sports games could be held if proper safety measures are put in place, including playing the games without fans. The news was welcomed by The Korean Women's Professional Golf Association (KLPGA), which recently cancel several vital tournaments.

The 42nd edition of the KLPGA Championship is due to restart on May 14 with 144 golfers in the field. It will be the tour's first tournament since its season opener was held in Vietnam in December. The venue has not been confirmed.

Over the last few weeks, the association has been forced to cancel several prestigious tournaments like the NH Investment & Securities Ladies Championship, the Doosan Match Play Championship.
