In GiveMeSport’s latest series of polls supporters got to select who was better out of Jurgen Klopp’s Champions league conquerors, Liverpool or Pep Guardiola’s domestic treble winners.

A remarkable 69% chose The European Champions. Liverpool only lost twice in the Premier League all season in their 2018/19 campaign and who can forget their remarkable European adventure.

Klopp’s team beat the champions of Germany, Bayern Munich in their own backyard 3-1 in the round of 16 before securing a convincing 6-1 on aggregate success over the then Portuguese champions, Porto.

Their most iconic performance of the European campaign however was still to come, after losing the first leg 3-0 to Barcelona at the Nou Camp the Merseyside club faced a formidable task to reach Madrid.

Spurred on by the Anfield crowd the Reds completed a remarkable turn around thanks to two goals each from Belgium striker Divork Orgi and Dutch midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum.

This secured a 4-0 win on the night, making the semi-final aggregate score 4-3 to the Reds. This set up an all English Champions League Final against domestic rivals Tottenham Hotspur at Atletico Madrid’s Metropolitano Stadium.

Thanks to a Mohammed Salah penalty and another goal from Origi Liverpool lifted the Champions League trophy for the sixth time.

An argument can certainly be made however that Guardiola’s side. City only lost four games domestically all season, including 18 wins out of a possible 19 at the Etihad.

Not only did they secure the Premier League trophy but they also won the other two domestic cup competitions by beating Chelsea in the League Cup final 4-3 on penalties with Raheem Sterling scoring the decisive penalty.

City completed the treble with a comprehensive 6-0 triumph over Watford to claim the FA Cup at Wembley.

One thing is however certainly clear; both sides during the 2018/19 season were impressive and pushed each other on to achieve remarkable successes.
