El-Hadji Diouf has regularly stated how much he detested his short spell with Liverpool.The controversial Senegalese forward was signed by the Reds after his impressive showing at the 2002 World Cup.Big things were expected, but Diouf just didn't seem to care during his time on Merseyside. He eventually moved to Bolton permanently in 2005.In the last few years, stories have come out of Diouf clashing with a number of players, including Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard.The pair knowingly didn't get along and Florent Sinama-Pongolle has now given details of an extraordinary clash between them during a pre-season game.He said during an Instagram live, per Sport Witness: “Half-time of a preseason game. Fight between Diouf and Gerrard. I was traumatised. Can you imagine the young ones seeing this and thinking that’s what professionals are like at that level? At half-time, in the dressing room. Stevie G is all like ‘you have to pass, you have to pass’ and [Diouf] just loses it.
“He didn’t speak English. His English was rubbish. You know what he did? They hated each other so much. Steven Gerrard arrives, he insults Diouf. ‘Hey, you f******…’. And [Diouf] couldn’t answer, so he grabs Gerard Houllier and says: ‘Tell him, I’ll f*** his mum’. He came in and said: ‘I’m not his mate, I’ll do him in straight away’.”
Wow. No wonder Diouf's Liverpool career was an unmitigated disaster!
Back in 2017, the Senegalese maverick took a fresh dig at Gerrard's career, claiming that the Reds icon - who he said he had no issue with - "did nothing for his country".
“I have no problem with him,” he said, per Independent. “Gerrard is a strong character and I am a strong character. ‘Stevie G' was a very good player, people like him in Liverpool but he never did anything for his country.
“I am Mr El Hadji Diouf, Mr Senegal but he is Mr Liverpool and Senegal is bigger than Liverpool and he has to know that.”
Sorry El-Hadji, but you're not fit to lace Gerrard's boots!
